I found Fleur back in 2013. a rusty, pitiful state she was, full of holes and covered in rust. She had been left to the elements on a farm in Provence, South of France, completely abandoned and forgotten about. After some research I found some folk in the know who promised to restore her to her former glory, inside and out. I closed my eyes and just plucked up the courage to bring her back to the UK with us and finally start to realise my dream of running my own business.
I haven't always been a baker, you see. Before this I worked for a fintech company specialising in currency trading....immensely boring in comparison to pootling around the beautiful Angus Glens with my, now stunning, companion serving cakes! One day while living overseas I was made redundant and my husband and I decided to make a slow move back to Scotland, first settling in the beautiful Kent Countryside. It was during this time that I realised if I was going to make a living out of baking, I needed to learn how to avoid making so many mistakes! I enrolled at Le Cordon Bleu in London (now my most favourite place on earth) and spent many glorious hours soaking up what I could from the very best pastry chefs in the world. This further fueled my love of France. I'm sure you can now work out how I found Fleur and why there is a slight French twist to what we do here.
Her renovation was a year long process but I am so glad I skimped on nothing, she is absolutely beautiful! She's also a temperamental lady but just needs a little bit of TLC and a lot of patience and she will take me anywhere. If you see us on the road give us a wave or a toot.
We're now based back in the Angus countryside, where I was born, and we hope to see you somewhere exciting very soon.
